Fires are fiercer than tigers—FLIR thermal imaging cameras help Blue Friends find their way
Time: 2023-03-10
Incident 1] At 16:06 on September 3, a fire broke out in the workshop of Jiashan Shuangjie Sponge Co., Ltd., Jiashan County Development Zone (Huimin Street), Jiaxing City, Zhejiang Province. It is understood that the burning substances at the scene are waste cardboard and sponges, etc., and the Jiaxing Fire and Rescue Detachment organized relevant squadrons to deal with it at the scene, and the fire has been controlled. At present, 6 employees are missing, and the cause of the accident is under investigation.
On the afternoon of September 2, a fire broke out on the 7th floor of a residential building on the front street in Jianhe County, Guizhou Province. According to a video taken by nearby people, on the 5th floor of a residential building, a resident tied a temporary escape rope with bed sheets and other items and was evacuating to the street. At present, the cause of the fire and the casualties are not yet clear, and further investigation is ongoing.

Every time a fire occurs, it is the firefighters who are hard and dangerous!

In each of the rescues investigated, firefighters used aggressive indoor rescue methods, groping for more than 15 minutes in smoke conditions with zero visibility. As the situation worsens, firefighters may become scattered or confused until they go in the wrong direction. Once the formation is broken, firefighters are exposed to a situation that is out of control and their lives are in danger. Oxygen depletion, falling objects, and sudden flashes or resurgences can be a big threat to firefighters who go in the wrong direction. When evacuation from the fire becomes a priority, thermal imaging cameras can be a good thing to rely on.

Safety rescue in the event of a fire

In addition to the smoke billowing and the tongue of fire swallowing people, secondary explosions also occur from time to time, so non-professionals should stay away from the accident scene, and firefighters also need to be equipped with scientific and technological tools to investigate the danger more quickly and rescue the trapped people.
Firefighting tools need to meet the demands of the environment, and FLIR K-Series thermal imaging cameras are designed for the heat and smoke that firefighters encounter on the job, displaying clear thermal images on bright LCDs to make decisions through fires.

Save rescue time

In a smoky house, it was challenging for firefighters to leave the walls and enter an open area. FLIR K-Series thermal imaging cameras help firefighters complete search and rescue missions quickly. Without a thermal imager, these rescues could have been completed, but the time would have doubled.
For firefighters, time is of the essence, and saving rescue time is very crucial. FSX™ (Flexible Scene Enhancement) technology enhances structural information in thermal images, helping firefighters work quickly and safely in smoke-dense environments.

Flick series thermal imaging cameras for firefighting

The K65 features Flexible Scene Enhancement (FSX) technology, and the FLIR K45, K55, and K65 also feature 5 imaging modes that firefighters can easily find and operate buttons to switch between through the thick gloved thumb. All three models allow up to 200 images to be saved for later viewing. The FLIR K55 and K65 (including the K53) have been significantly upgraded with the ability to save up to 200 video clips, so you can capture video of the scene – which is valuable for post-incident analysis.
Thermal imaging cameras have advantages in firefighting, not only in the process of fighting fires, but also in determining the location of the center of the fire, the degree of burning and the spread. It also uses infrared light to penetrate the characteristics of hot smoke, and uses infrared thermal imager to display different temperature distribution maps, which can enable firefighters to quickly find trapped people and win valuable time for rescue.
